RO Certified Plant Operator
Job Summary
The City of Beeville is seeking a RO Certified Plant Operator responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant. This role ensures water quality meets all regulatory and City standards through continuous monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of plant processes.
When the RO plant is not in operation, the RO Certified Plant Operator will provide relief support for Pump and Motor Operator duties.
Essential Functions
- Operate, monitor, and maintain RO and associated water treatment systems, including pre-treatment, filtration, chemical dosing, and post-treatment processes.
- Conduct routine inspections of pumps, valves, membranes, filters, tanks, and instrumentation.
- Monitor, record, and analyze operational data such as flow rates, pressure, conductivity, pH, and total dissolved solids (TDS).
- Adjust plant operating parameters to ensure optimal performance and compliance with water quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, system cleaning (CIP), and membrane replacement as required.
- Prepare and properly dose treatment chemicals (antiscalants, disinfectants, coagulants, etc.) according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills
- Knowledge of RO system design and operational principles.
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems for process monitoring and control.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Water Treatment Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Certification
- TCEQ Water Treatment Operator Certification: Groundwater, Class C or higher.
- Must be willing to take and pass an 8-hour RO Operations and Maintenance Workshop for TCEQ compliance (prior completion preferred but not required).
- Minimum Class C Distribution License from TCEQ.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience operating RO or water treatment systems (industrial, commercial, or municipal).
Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas Driver’s License or reliable alternate transportation.
- Ability to prepare records, reports, and documents neatly and accurately.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 lbs.
- Work involves exposure to water treatment chemicals and noisy equipment (PPE provided).
- May require extended work hours (8–12 hours per day) in a high-demand environment.
