POSITION SUMMARY
The City of Beeville is seeking a dependable and hardworking Utility Worker to join the Public Works team. Under the direction of the assigned crew foreman, the Utility Worker performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor duties supporting the City's streets, drainage, utility, and general maintenance operations.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors, operating hand tools and construction equipment, performing physically demanding work, and responding to emergency or after-hours situations when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Utility Worker may perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to:
- Operate at least two types of construction equipment as assigned and trained.
- Perform miscellaneous manual labor using shovels, rakes, pitchforks, axes, saws, air hammers, and other hand tools.
- Construct and repair fences.
- Serve as a member of seal coat and paving crews as directed.
- Pick up and remove solid waste, tree limbs, brush, and other debris.
- Assist with street and drainage maintenance and operations.
- Be subject to 24-hour call-out to help assure the proper operation of City street and drainage systems.
- Follow directions from the crew foreman and work cooperatively with other Public Works employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Other equipment and hand tools assigned to the position
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
License/Transportation:
- Valid Texas Driver's License or reliable alternate means of transportation.
Other Requirements:
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain ICS 100 and ICS 200 certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the physical ability to perform manual labor and work in a variety of outdoor conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Utility Worker may be required to work:
- Outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Around traffic, construction equipment, tools, and machinery.
- In areas involving dirt, dust, debris, noise, and other environmental conditions.
- Extended hours, weekends, holidays, or emergency call-outs when necessary to maintain City streets and drainage systems.
