Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Rate

The Beeville Water District will hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed tax rate for the 2024 tax year. Details are as follows:

• Your individual taxes may increase, decrease, or stay the same depending on the adopted tax rate and the change in your property’s taxable value compared to other properties.
• The tax burden distribution among property owners is determined by the change in the taxable value of your property relative to others.

Tax Information Comparison:

Last year, the total tax rate was $0.070000 per $100 of value. This year’s proposed rate remains the same at $0.070000 per $100 of value, resulting in no change in the rate.

The average residence homestead’s appraised value increased from $114,490 last year to $124,160 this year. With no general homestead exemptions available, the average taxable value of the residence also increased to $124,160 from $114,490.

As a result, the tax on the average residence homestead will rise from $80.14 to $86.91, reflecting an annual increase of $6.77, which is an 8.45% increase.

Notice of Vote on Tax Rate: If the adopted tax rate results in an increase of more than 3.5% on the average residence homestead, an election will be held to approve or reduce the tax rate. An election is not required if the adopted rate is less than or equal to the voter-approval tax rate.
